Tour code : ASATT/LT3/14D/MVTL
Last Updated: March 10, 2010This is an ideal trek for anyone wishing to explore the heartland of Ladakh, incredible geographic features, isolated villages and possibility of viewing wildlife are all part of this ten days trek from Leh.
The rout involves crossing two passes, Gandala (16200ft.) and the Kongmarula (17200ft.) and several days of walking along the beautiful Markha valley, through scattered hamlets and desolate wilderness.
The highlight of the trek is the camp on the high plains of nimaling (A large plateau – like meadow at 16200ft.) beneath mount Kangyatzey. Shepherds bring herds of YAKS to graze on the spares foliage during the summer months. Here there are chances of glimpsing Ibex, Bharal, Tibetan wolf and may be even the elusive snow leopard. Himalaya marmot and Tibetan hare are commonly seen. The bird life is equally exciting and there is a surprisingly large variety of vegetation.
Best Season : July to September
